Morning Arrival Procedures

Car Riders

  1. RSES doors will open at 7:10 a.m.
  2. In the mornings, there is only one lane in the front drive for student car line drop off and 3 building entry points (cafeteria, library, and main entry doors - all are indicated by the yellow circles on the map below).
  3. Staff members will be outside to support students and make sure they enter the building through one of our 3 entry points. Parents should pull through the line as far as possible. Students should exit their car at the curbside along the building and proceed to the nearest entry. They do not need to wait for an adult to open their car door.
  4. As you pull into the school parking lot, please have your student prepare to exit your vehicle by gathering up his/her backpack, lunch box, supplies, etc.
  5. If your student needs adult support to exit the vehicle or additional time to say good-bye, please park in the front parking lot and escort him/her to the front doors via the crosswalk.
  6. No parking lot drop-offs are allowed; students must be escorted across the crosswalk to the front entrance by an adult.
  7. As students enter the 3 building entry points, masks (optional) and hand sanitizer will be available.
  8. Students eating breakfast and all Pre-K students will go directly to the cafeteria upon arrival. Kindergarten-5th grade students not eating breakfast in the cafeteria will go straight to their classroom when entering the building.
  9. If arriving after 7:40, you should escort your child to the front entrance to sign them in. They will receive a tardy slip and proceed to their classroom.

 Walkers/Bike Riders

  1. There will be a crossing guard from 7:10-7:40 at the crosswalk at Via de Sienna and Montalcino Ln. (Purple crosswalk) as well as at the Via de Sienna and Bonnet (Gold crosswalk) intersection.
  2. Walkers and bike riders may also enter through the back cafeteria doors.  At 7:40 all exterior doors automatically lock, and staff are no longer on duty at building entrances. Walkers and bike riders must utilize the only front entry beginning at 7:40 am.
  3. Any student arriving after 7:40 will be signed in by our office receptionist as tardy.

Bus Riders and Daycare

  1. Buses and daycare vans will be unloaded on the bus loop off of Montalcino Lane.  This parking lot is for buses and staff parking only. For the safety of all children, driving through or parking here to drop off your child is not permitted.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

Car Riders

  1. Please hang your assigned numbered hang tag from your rearview mirror prior to entering RSES property.
  2. A RSES staff member will be walking in the car lane and logging your car tag number as you pull forward.  The lead car in each batch will be designated with a colored tag under their windshield wiper. Your student will be called by his/her car number from inside the building to the curb where your car has been batched.
  3. Once all vehicles are put into park, teachers will load students into the current batch.
  4. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOUR VEHICLE REMAINS IN PARK UNTIL ALL STUDENTS, NOT JUST YOUR OWN, ARE LOADED AND TEACHERS CLEAR THE AREA.
  5. Once a batch has been loaded, you will be signaled to pull forward and exit the parking lot.
  6. The right hand lane will be forced to turn right onto Bonnet upon exiting, and the left hand lane will be forced to turn left onto Bonnet. Please plan accordingly as you enter the car line in the parking lot.
  7. For the safety of your child, there will be no walk-up dismissal at the building.
  8. TEXAS SCHOOL ZONE LAW HB347:  PLEASE REMEMBER FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR STAFF AND STUDENTS THAT USING CELL PHONES WHILE YOUR CAR IS IN MOTION IS PROHIBITED.  This includes streets and school property within the school zone.
  9. After the first week of school, any students still on campus after 3:10 will be escorted to the office. If you arrive after 3:10, you will need to park outside the main office and walk up to the office doors to pick up your child.  Please bring a photo ID.

Walkers/Bike Riders

  1. RSES Staff will escort and monitor walkers/bike riders to the crosswalks at Via de Sienna and Montalcino (Purple Stop), Bonnet and Via de Sienna (Gold Stop), Montalcino and Lazio (White Stop) and Bonnet by the RSE Library (Green Stop).  RSES staff will be present to assist Purple, Gold and White walkers/riders across the street. Green walkers will NOT cross Bonnet at the school.  Please make sure your child knows which crosswalk to take (purple, gold, white, or green).  All bike riders should walk bikes when on school sidewalks adjacent to car traffic.
  2. If you wish to walk home with your child, these colored locations are where you will meet them. They are shown on the map with the colored circles.
  3. Please do not pick up from crosswalks in your car as this is a huge safety concern.  If you bring your vehicle to meet your student, please go through the car lane.
  4. Please remember that students are walked to the crosswalk and dismissed from there.  For all student’s safety, please do not call them out of their line to meet you before the crosswalk.
  5. For their safety, students who walk, bike, or scooter home must be independent. This means they are trustworthy, can reliably navigate from school to home based on their color stops, and consistently follow directions from adult staff members.

 Bus Riders and Daycare

  1. Buses and daycare vans will be loaded on the bus loop off of Montalcino Lane. This parking lot is for buses and staff parking only. For the safety of all children, parking here to pick up your child is not permitted.
