What does it mean to be a room parent?
- A room parent is a parent that is selected by your child's classroom teacher to be the point of contact for planning classroom parties, finding volunteers for field trips, etc.
What does a room parent do?
- Once you're selected as a room parent, you will attend the room parent orientation at the beginning of the year.
- Ask your assigned teacher what they need for the year (volunteer, supplies, etc.)
- Get permission to contact other parents in class
- Help teachers organize class parties
- Celebrate/Recognize the teacher's birthday
- Attend any school events or field trips as a volunteer as much as possible
- Help gather Silent Auction items for grade level raffle basket
- Decorate the classroom door throughout the year

You must complete the annual LHISD Background Check (this is a criminal background check only. It keeps our students & staff safe!)
